Getting Started With Adsense

By Jamie Boyle

Now that you know what Google Adsense is all about. The first thing you need to do is either get a website or start a blog.

Once you've done that you will need to sign up for a Google Adsense account. Signing up for a Adsense account is free. Once you have signed up for an account you will need to login to your account and at the top task bar you will need to click on "my account" and update all your information. Here you will be able to update your payee information, payment information and choose how you wish to be paid whether it be by check or electronic funds transfer.

Now that you've done that, now we can start placing ads or your website or blog. First thing you do is go to the top and choose Adsense Setup. Here you can choose 3 options.

1. Adsense For Content
2. Adsense For Search
3. Referrals

Adsense for content is where you will get targeted ads based on the content of your site. Here is where you will find the code that will be generated based on the type of ad you choose. You can play with the colours of the ad borders, text, links and size. After doing that you will get a html code that you will put in your website or blog.

Adsense for search allows you to place a Google search box on your site and enables internet surfers to be able to perform a search from within your website. You can do 2 types of search boxes. One is a straight search bar enabling people to perform a search from the web and the other enable them to search on the web or choose a link to one of three other URL's of your choice. When they click on the web search you will get paid based on if they click on one of the search result ads that come up.

Referrals is another code you will be able to get on your site as well. It allows you to place ads on your website promoting other companies products or services. You can search the directory on this feature and choose the ones you would like to promote best. Each company has a different pay structure for the referral program for these and different guidelines to get paid. Here you don't get paid by the click you get paid by what the company wants out of it. Say for instance your were referring people to a business and they wanted people to sign up for an account. You won't get paid by the click for this, you get paid if they sign up.

Now that you have begun placing some ads on your site the next thing you will need to do is generate some traffic.
